A MESMERISING TRIP TO BALMURI AND EDMURI

Introduction:

Balmuri and Edmuri waterfalls are two small wonderfull waterfalls, located 3 kms off the Mysore to the KRS (Krishna Raja Sagara) main road. This place is surrounded by lush greenery and is a hot spot among the locals as well. A visit to this place is calming and relaxing .The Balmuri waterfall is formed because of the check dam constructed on the river Kaveri. A step of about 6ft on this creates the impression of a small waterfall, although the force is not high, it still would be a great place to enjoy the cool water. The spot retains its fame being used in many Kannada movies for the scene locations.

The Edmuri falls is more suited for swimming and water games. The beauty of the falls is enhanced by the surrounding paddy fields and small island. There is also an ancient Ganesha temple near the Edmuri falls which can be a small detour on the visit here.

The trip :

All work and no play makes Jack a very dull boy. I believe that my fellow engineering students clients follow that policy and arranged for their trip bored of their mundane routine.The place which they selected was balmuri and edmuri falls.
All set and their most awaited day came in front of them..October 22nd 2012.This was the day of their fun filled excursion.
The bus arrived on time and as the per the customs one of the student performed pooja before the scheduled departure and remembered  the Almighty for the well being and safe trip.It was concluded and then they started getting in the bus.I could see everyone with happiness beaming in their faces and eyes.The bus left at the exact time and then started the celebrations. A bunch of monkeys i must say!

As the music started playing..both boys and girls sprung up in action and started dancing to their content.It was indeed wonderful to see a medley of songs with a medley of dance steps.One doing hip-hop,other one doing street dance and even a person did salsa!! That is indeed awesome.These people are very fun loving and superb!

 And then as the time progressed we all got down at BIDADI as it was the breakfast time .Had heard that the place is fantastic for "THATTE IDLI" and later realised that people are not wrong! Its indeed fantastic and lip smacking! The people at the hotel were too polite and responded well to our needs..There at the bottom is the stuff we had as our breakfast before proceeding further with our destination.

The bus started and so did the music player..No wonder students are energetic lot too.Even after having their fill they were again matching steps with the songs being played.Whereas some of them got busy in taking self portrait snaps and some had a wink of sleep and some admiring the beauty of the nature outside As we proceeded further we could see that we were almost going away from the urban landscape to a more soothing,more calming rural landscape with lush green fields and rural settlements.
By the time my monkeys had settled down we had reached our destination EDMURI  FALLS.Everyone started shouting with happiness as their destination was within an arm distance.No sooner did the bus stop,everyone ran out and stood spellbound by the mother nature ahead of them.
After visiting the Ganesha temple in the falls vicinity,everyone geared up to play in water.
The water was awfully cold and i could see them shivering and playing in the water.As usual everyone revealed their naughty side and were seen enjoying to the core..girls and boys alike..

After playing to their hearts content we all left to another part of the falls called as the BALMURI FALLS.It is very near to the edmuri falls and can be covered within 5 mins by a vehicle( of course). This place is relatively calm and was less crowded and very much peaceful and serene.Here the water was flowing with a relatively less speed and was upto the brim of the false dam like structure which was built.One part was shallow where they could walk,stand and play and other was deeper part where they could swim.I  remembered a famous quote:

“When he worked, he really worked. But when he played, he really PLAYED.”
― Dr. Seuss

which I could apply to these students.Hardworking as they are,Fun loving and spendid too! A truly wonderful bunch of students..they deserved this break from their academics..From swimming to diving,playing in water to standing with various poses  these students did everything they could think of and enjoyed all moments immensly.A thing which had to be appreciated was that boys learnt how to swim.If not fully at least partially so that they could survive in extreme cases..

Here are some of the moments of joy:

Slowly the fun filled day was coming to an end..The fun and frolic were going to be etched in the minds of the students forever.I could see some sad faces popping up as we cleared the last lap of the excursion.

Now we stopped at a restaurant on the Bangalore-Mysore highway to have a stomach full of meal and to get refreshed.Soon after we left on our way towards Bangalore.

the sombre mood of going back was evident and it was taken care of by the music which kept playing.Slowly everyone charged up and started thumping the bus with their footsteps and dance moves.There were peppy songs too along with melodious.Then a moment came were the best song of student life which every student would relate himself to played and there was a brief moment of silence as if everyone was trying to tell each other that no matter what our friendship will always pass the testing times.brief moment of silence was shunned by an item song which left everyone dancing and screaming and the fun continued..

And .to everyone's dislike the starting point of the journey came.As in to say that the life had completed a full circle on that day..With heavy hearts all alighted from the bus silently.I suppose there were images of the times they had spent some hours back.With teary eyes all bade each other goodbye and a promise that they would go on a trip soon..So engrossed that they were that no one could note the time of exact departures from the places en route..At last what remained with them is a treasure house of memories which can be cherished upon anytime...
